group lessons faq

+ What are group lessons?

Group lessons are multi-week (4-week) small group lessons. They run on a set schedule and time with the same instructor and group each week.

+ Why are there no longer any 8-week programs?

Eight weeks of lessons are available by signing up for 2, 4-week programs. We have found that it is more beneficial to the child as many will develop at different rates during the first 4 weeks. This will allow us to create new groups in the second 4 weeks to maximize student development. There will be a $25 discount for those that sign up for both 4 week (Jan & Feb) classes at the same time of registration.

+ Do I need to purchase a lift ticket for a group lesson?

If the participant does not have a Season Pass that gives access for the lesson time then a lift ticket will need to be purchased.

+ Are equipment rentals included?

No. If the participant does not have their own equipment they will need to purchase rentals in advance.

+ How do I know what ability level to choose?

A ski and snowboard ability chart is provided on each Lesson page of our website. Please be sure to review the chart(s) prior to registration.

+ Why are there no snowboard group lessons for children under 7 years old?

Children under 7 years of age need a lot of individual attention and assistance to get up and down the hill and to safely use the lift. Snowboarding is more difficult to learn and harder to get up from a fall. For this reason an instructor must be one-on-one with children learning to snowboard. We offer private and parent and tot lessons for snowboarders of all ages.

+ Once I book a lesson online how will I know it is confirmed?

You will receive and email receipt (to the email you provided) promptly after your purchase. It will contain the lesson confirmation details. Should there be any conflicts or issues with your booking, we will contact you to resolve it. *Please ensure your contact details are correct.

+ What if I don't receive a confirmation receipt?

Please check your spam/junk folders first. If a receipt is not found, email snowschool@batawaskihill.com with the details of your purchase.

+ How far in advance do I have to book my group lesson?

We recommend that you book your lessons as soon as possible once registration open. Historically most group lessons sell out quickly. Tykes sell out very fast so please register as soon as possible.

+ What happens if I cannot attend my scheduled group lesson?

All participants must attend the first day of their group lesson. Otherwise, they may be withdrawn from the program. If a participant is absent from their group lesson, regardless of reason, there are no make-up days, switching of days, or refunds for missed classes.
